Easter Portrait Specials

Easter is on April 4th this year. I know it's hard to think about booking your Easter portrait session, but in order to have them back by Easter, the sessions need to be completed during the first half of March. The stores will be coming out with their Easter and Spring dressy clothing within the next couple weeks, so don't delay! If you book your session on March 4th, 5th, 6th, 12th or 13th, you will receive a free session and discounted portaits! The Specials page has been updated with the information. I've got some cute set ups, and although I considered live bunnies and chicks, my allergies and aversion to farm animals prevented me from moving forward with that idea. Wow, what a busy time of year! Not that I'm complaining- I wouldn't know what to do with myself if I didn't have 101 things to do at the same time! :) Fall sessions are done, and they all went great, despite having to juggle a few sessions around due to weather. I will continue to do holiday sessions through Dec. 7th, and orders will need to be placed within 5 days to receive in time before Christmas.

Janie and Jack Photo Shoots

Check out these cutie pies I photographed at Janie and Jack a couple weeks ago! I got so lucky because they were all in fatastic, happy moods! Guess the bribing with the candy helped a little bit too! :) I had so much fun and met some great families. The staff at Janie and Jack were great too, and were lots of fun to hang out with for a couple of days! They let me move their fixtures around to accomodate my equipment, and helped entertain the little ones.

I've posted the holiday specials on the website. All the stores have their holiday clothing out, so get to shopping! I have some beautiful new card designs this year, for either the normal photo card greetings, or flat (card stock) press printed or folded cards. These are gorgeous!

Also new this year - session fees are waived in exchange for a package of diapers to benefit the Diaper Drive, which is sponsored by Channel 94.1. The diapers will go to the Lydia House, to help homeless mothers and their babies.

**All portrait orders must be received by Nov. 28th in order for you to receive your cards in time to mail out before Christmas. Please keep this in mind when booking your session.

I know, it seems awful early to think about holiday portrait sessions and cards, but I am going to be posting my specials in the next week so I can get it on the calendar.

I am going to have some fabulous new card designs this year - both flat cards and folding cards on press printed paper. They come in a gloss, linen or pearl finish. Pricing will be available soon on my website. Regular photograph paper cards are still going to be available as well.

If you're doing an outdoor session with me next month, consider using one (or several) of those images for your holiday cards. They will be absolutely stunning on the press printed paper, and will definitely stand out! The colors of my new card designs have some earthy tones, so they'll look great with outdoor portraits on them. I'll post some examples of some images when I post the special pricing.

If you want to come in for a holiday session, I'll be booking those in the first 2 weeks of November. I'll have several different set ups available. One that I'm really excited about has a classic, victorian feel to it.

Some of the stores already have their holiday clothing outfits, and they are picture perfect! Check out Gymboree and Janie and Jack. I am loving all of it!

Studio remodeling

We are remodeling the studio with a new mahogany cherry wood floor. I guess I should say my husband is! :) I think it's gorgeous, and I'm so excited to have some new options with which to use it! I'll be doing a lot more natural light sessions as well; mainly with newborns. Check back soon.... some exciting new stuff to come!

Fall is fast approaching, so for those of you that have been thinking about doing an outdoor family portrait session, now is the time to get it booked before all the spots are gone! I have posted the specials on my website as well. Sessions will be 45 minutes long, and will be booked back to back. If you are late for your session, we will do as many shots as possible until the next group arrives. Your sitting fee is due when you book your session. This holds your appointment for you, and is not refundable if you cancel. It may be applied towards a future session. If there is inclement weather, we will reschedule for another date. This is a great time to order holiday cards as well. One less thing to do in November or December! This is my busiest (and favorite) time of year, so editing/proofing time will run an extra day longer than normal. Several spots have already been booked, so don't delay in getting your session on the calendar!

I did an outdoor session for Connor last week, and it was tons of fun! I followed him around and got lots of great shots of him playing and exploring. He found a frog, and had tons of fun chasing it. He also had a ball throwing rocks in the water. What an arm! Future hall of famer, perhaps? I'm sure dad would be okay with that! :)

Wow, I can't believe I let so much time go by since my last post! Life has been a little crazy for the last 2 1/2 months, but I hope to get back to normal once school starts next week.

Many of you know I was also working part time, and was laid off in June. They let all the part timers go, so it has been nice to have the summer off with my kids. I know this was a blessing, and will now allow me to devote all my time and energy towards what I love - photography! This is now my only gig, so I will have more openings available. Keep sending over those referrals!

I am still booking sessions for high school seniors. Every school has a different dead line, so make sure you don't miss it!

I also thought I would post a picture from a display I had up at the Baby Gap store at Oakview Mall back in June. What a great bunch of people they are! So much fun, and so awesome for giving me the opportunity to set up in their store for a full 3 days.

I was so excited to photograph Brynlee for her newborn session! Her mom is our daycare provider, so we have been anticipating Brynlee's birth for quite some time. I will be capturing Brynlee's first year, and I am so excited! She didn't fuss at all, and we were moving her all over the place to get the right shots. She's already sleeping through the night (why didn't I get that lucky?!), and seems like she's a pretty laid back baby so far. I just hope my girls' craziness doesn't rub off on her too much! :)

Haley arrived in a great mood for her 6 month session! We got tons of smiles, and she didn't object to anything we wanted to do. Her dad is a big Cubs fan, so we took some shots of her in her Cubs jersey. So cute! Aruba!

Some of you know I have been going nuts trying to get ready for our trip to Aruba. It will be strange to not have the kids with us for a week! My mother-in-law is coming to take care of the kids. I think she knows what's in store for her; I just hope she's sane when we return! :) I will not have access to phone or email from 2/28 to 3/8, so please don't think I am ignoring you!

I am doing an Easter special, there just has not been time to post the info yet on my site. It will be on March 20th and 21st. Session fees are just $10, and units will be $18.99. Cards are $1.75 each. In order to receive the Easter special pricing, you MUST use an Easter set up, and have Spring/Easter clothing. We have colorful eggs, a spring floral backdrop and pastel backdrops. The white swing is always a favorite for these sessions too.

I was so happy to photograph this little cutie! She arrived in a such a happy mood, and was awake for the entire session. She was so alert, and let me position her however I wanted without any objection. Her big brother Brandon came along, and was so patient while I took pictures of Alexis. I will be photographing her family in a couple weeks, and I'm sure she will have already changed by then. I am looking forward to meeting her dad and her other big brother. I am so happy to be capturing her first year of life, and really look forward to our future sessions.

I returned last night from a 3 day photography conference. It was a great as I expected it to be, and more! It was hard to leave the family for the weekend, but it was so worth it. I have met a great bunch of photographers from these conferences, and it's always great to catch up with them at the next conference to see what everyone is up to. The photographers that have been in the business for a long time are always willing to give tips and advice, which is absolutely amazing. I came away with more great ideas and advice from the pros that have been in the business for over 20 years, and I am excited to get some new ideas going... now if they could have just told me how to come up with some extra time! :)

I've had so much fun photographing Natalie over the past year! She always has so many cute expressions, that I find it difficult to narrow down her pictures when I am proofing them out. Hello everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year's! We survived our trip to Colorado, and the drive went surprisingly smooth. It was great to get a little break from laundry, cooking, cleaning, etc. My husband and I even got a night out without the kids! Sadly, I can't remember the last time that happened. I dragged him to see 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button' (and not just because Brad Pitt is in it, I promise! :)) It was a great movie!

At the present time, my husband is setting up my new computer, which seems to be taking forever since I need to transfer SO much over to it. I managed to get the Valentine Special posted, so check that out on the site if you are interested.

Unfortunately, due to my lab increasing their minimum order amounts, I am no longer doing printed proofs. I will hopefully have that updated soon on the website. They are available for purchase if you would like to have them. Also, in the past I have been lenient with ordering deadlines, but do to my schedule becoming so hectic, I am going to have to start inforcing the 10 day ordering deadline. More information regarding that will be given to you when you book your next session.

With 2008 quickly coming to an end, I just wanted to take a moment to thank all of my clients for your business this year, and wish you a happy, healthy 2009! I can honestly say I have the best clients ever! You are all so easy and pleasant to work with, and it makes me love this job so much!

It's been a crazy, busy, fantastic year for me, and I owe thanks to each and every one of you. I would not have grown as much as I did this year if it weren't for your referrals of your friends, co-workers and extended family members. My business doubled this year, and I am still trying to figure out how I kept up with everything! I'm very excited to see what 2009 will bring, and I'm planning some new exciting things for next year. I will be doing an outdoor Spring special, since I wasn't able to do that this year due to the birth of my baby.

We will be traveling to Colorado again for Christmas, so any prayers would be greatly appreciated! An 8 hour car ride with 3 kids is definitely going to be testing my patience. Thank goodness for portable DVD players! My kids will be watching theirs(while stuffing their faces with 'health food' from our many gas station stops), and I scored one for myself on Black Friday, so I am hoping to plug in my headphones, watch a few flicks, and tune out the yelling, crying, and whining that will undoubtedly be coming from the back seat. At least I can bribe my 2 oldest kids with taking them snow tubing in the mountains if they are good during the trip!

I hope everyone is looking forward to Thanksgiving as much as I am! My mom and dad are coming for the holiday, since it's such a hassle for us to travel now with 3 kids. I am contemplating whether or not to hit the stores on Black Friday- guess I will see if there are any deals I can't live without!

I am almost booked for December- I have a few spots left for you slackers out there (you know who you are! I can make fun of you because you are my friends). My lab is working diligently to get orders out fast, and they have increased the hours they are working. I will not be booking any sessions for December 19th through January 1st. We have so much traveling to do over the holidays, and I really need to put family first during this time of the year.

This holiday season, I am extremely thankful for my wonderful clients! My business has grown quite a bit this year (despite the fact that I had a baby and took some time off!) and I owe it all to you and your referrals. Wow, things are so crazy both with work and our life at home, my head is just spinning! We had a daycare fiasco (AGAIN!) but hope that's been taken care of. We found a great lady in our neighborhood with girls, so Emma should be happy! I've also been swamped with outdoor sessions and all the computer work that goes along with it. My kids seem to remember I'm their mom, so that's a good sign! :) My husband deserves a shout out for keeping up with the house and the kids, while I've been slaving away every night on the computer.

October is completely booked up. I am currently booking for holiday portraits in November, and have posted the specials on the website. I am scheduling the sessions on the hour. I will be posting the holiday card designs tomorrow, so be sure to check them out in the proofing gallery!

Holiday Specials Posted!

I have finally gotten the Specials page of the site updated with the holiday portrait specials! I have pre-made card designs which I will be posting to the proof gallery within the next couple of days. You can still custom design a card, however, those will be full price. Gap, Children's Place, and Gymboree have their dressy holiday outfits in the stores now and they are all SO cute! I haven't been to Old Navy recently, but they probably have holiday outfits as well.

We will have many different props this year, or you may stick with a classic, simple holiday session if you prefer. There are lots of possibilites, and I am open to any ideas you may want to suggest! Email me if you'd like to know what is available regarding backdrops, props, etc.

Gearing up for the busy season!

I just had a cancellation for an outdoor session on Oct. 25th at 4:30. This is the last weekend spot I have left. Email me if you want it!

I've been trying to do a better job of updating my blog, but it's been so hard with how busy life has been lately! I just returned from a 3 day photography conference (thanks to my hubby for being a single parent!) and it was absolutely incredible! I met so many wonderful photographers from all over the state of Nebraska. I came away with so many awesome ideas, and I can't wait to implement them. Now if there was only a way to increase my time, that would be perfect! My kids acted liked they missed me when I got home last night, but later when I made them go to bed, I suddenly became a mean mom again. Oh well....

Normally my proofing lead times are around 3 days, but with the busy October schedule, it will take up to 5 days before I can have your proofs to you. Ordering lead times are still the same from the lab. Thanks to all of you for your patience, as you know I am a one person operation!

Fall sessions added (and holiday update)

Due to high demand, I have decided to offer a few more dates for the outdoor fall sessions (my husband will probably kill me for this- Ha!). I am offering a few sessions during the week of Oct. 19th. If you are interested, email or call me with the date you are interested in. I am booking sessions at 4:30 and 5:30 pm.

I'll be posting info soon regarding holiday sessions. All of the stores will be coming out with their holiday lines by the end of this month, so it's not too late to start checking around for those cute outfits!

Makenna

I was lucky enough to get to photograph new client Makenna for her 2 year pictures. She loves monkeys and Curious George, and brought all her favorite monkeys to be photographed with her. We had a lot of fun with this session. She had a great time swinging Curious George around on the vine. Thanks to Makenna's mom for bringing her in for pictures! I hope to see you both again soon!

Cole Turns 2

I have to start by saying that I absolutely love Cole's haircut! He is such a cutie! It's been so much fun watching him change. Cole was one of my very first sessions when he was a newborn 2 years ago, and I'm so glad his mom keeps bringing him back to me for pictures! He didn't like the idea of sitting on the crate for this session, but we had to do it indoors since the weather outside wasn't cooperating... and of course today is gorgeous! We finally convinced him that if he got on the crate, he would see Nemo swimming in the pond. Poor guy! Sorry for that little white lie Cole, but hey, we got some good shots!

Ella is 1!

Ella Rose- it has been so fun watching you grow! Ella and her family are neighbors, so I get to see her all the time. The past year has absolutely flown by! This session with her was so easy and relaxed. I loved photographing Ella in her own personalized rocking chair that she received for her birthday. She was so happy and relaxed! At least mom will have lots of pictures to choose from!

Gavin's 6 month pictures

I must say, this session was a lot of fun with little Gavin! He has so many great expressions, and proofing out his pictures was a tough but fun task! He warmed up right away and was in a great mood. Gavin's mom had THE cutest outfit on him- I will have to go to Katina's to see what they have for baby girls. I met Gavin's mom at CORE, her new store located in the Shops at Legacy on 168th & Center. If you get a chance, go check it out! They have great clothes, accessories and gift items!

Goodbye summer, hello fall!

My daughter starts back to school tomorrow, and I honestly don't know where the summer went! Guess I was so busy with 3 kids that it feels like it just passed me by. With the birth of our baby in April, I just didn't get a chance to have any spring or summer specials, but I am getting back into the swing of things. Several clients have asked if I will be having any outdoor fall specials, and the answer is definitely! I will be posting those within the next week on the Specials page on my site. Keep in mind that these sessions are only done during the 3rd and 4th week of October, so there are only a limited amount of sessions available. If this is something you've been wanting to do, don't delay! Book it today! Okay, that was a little corny. Sorry :)

Jack is 1!

I have been photographing Jack since he was a newborn, and I can't believe how fast the time has gone! He was so happy at the beginning of this session, but he was fed up with us trying to make him smile. You certainly can't tell by his pictures that he didn't like the cake! Thank goodness for big sister McKenna who helped put smiles on his face, as well as Elmo! Happy Birthday Jack!

Senior Portrait Time!

Saturday I did a session for new clients (and parents!) Chris, Renae and Coban, a 6 month old cutie that was full of smiles! He did such a good job that I just kept snapping away, and before I knew it, I had taken over 100 pictures! That session took a while to proof out, but I just can't help but take a lot of shots when babies are happy and full of smiles and different expressions. I am looking forward to photographing Coban and his family throughout the next year!

It's A Girl!

In between all of the feedings and diaper changes, I am finally getting around to posting all the details about our newest arrival. Liliana Joy arrived on April 25th, weighing in at 8 lbs. 6 oz. and 19 1/2" long. She has red hair and gray/blue eyes! Quite a surprise to us, since the rest of us all have dark hair. She is doing great, and of course has her days and nights mixed up. Hopefully I will get some new specials posted soon, once I can get caught up on some sleep! Here are a few pictures of her.

Well, it's almost here! Less than 2 weeks away, and it's back to sleepless nights and dirty diapers, and I can't wait! I just wanted to share this picture of me with my girls. My husband took this shot. I think it turned out pretty well. I may have to offer him a job someday if he ever decides to make a career change! :)

Baby Countdown!

I apologize for not having any recent posts.... life's been pretty hectic with getting ready for our third child! We have scheduled the C-section for April 25th. I can't believe how fast the time has gone by with this one. Wish I could say we are completely ready for the arrival, but we still have so much to do before he/she arrives. It's so funny how things are so different from the first pregnancy as compared to the third. We had everything ready probably 2 months before our 1st daughter arrived, and now we don't even have socks or diapers, much less have the room done! I'll keep posting updates here, since we have less than a month to go.

As far as photo shoots go, I will not be scheduling any sessions for 2 weeks after 4/25, so I may recover from the surgery. Thanks for understanding!

Easter Specials!

Hi Everyone! I am so ready for spring, I can hardly stand it! All the stores have their Easter clothing out, so now's the time to start thinking about booking your Easter portrait session! The Easter specials are posted on the website. Easter is so early this year, so I had to run the special earlier than normal. There will not be any printed proofs for this special. Orders and payment must be received by 3/7 in order to get your portraits back by Easter. We have a super cute white swing that looks great with any backdrop. We have floral vines and Easter vines with little eggs that can be wrapped around the sides of the swing. We also have lots of cute eggs and flowers. The bunnies didn't work out this year, but maybe next year. You can also order Easter cards to send out to family and friends. Talk to me if you have any specific design ideas in mind, or I also have templates I can show you. Hope everyone's year is off to a great start!

As the year comes to a close, I would like to wish all of my clients a happy, healthy holiday season, and wonderful new year! I appreciate each and every one of you, and thank you for business and referrals! My new year's resolution is to do a better job with updating this blog, which should be a challenge for me, as next year will probably be busier than ever with our baby arriving in April. Please note that the studio will be closed from 12/20 until 1/2/07 so I may spend the holidays with my family, and get some much needed R&R!

Be watching for Valentine's and Easter specials. The lab will be offering specials to me, which I will be able to pass along to you. Valentine's specials will be in January. Due the fact that Easter is SO early this year- March 21st!- the Easter special will be in February. I'm toying with the idea of getting live bunnies- but no promises yet! I'm not a big fan of animals (due to allergies), so it may just be a one day special if it does come together. This information will be emailed to you as reminders.

Ordering deadline for holiday cards and Holiday hours

I apologize for doing a lousy job of updating this blog!! Things have just been crazy with outdoor sessions, and now holiday sessions. The deadline for ordering holiday cards is 11/27. If ordered on 11/27/07, you will receive them during the second week in December. The last day I am scheduling holiday sessions is 11/18/07, in order to ensure your cards will be to you by the 2nd week of December. I can't guarantee holiday cards will be received prior to Christmas if your session is booked after 11/18/07. I will not be scheduling any sessions during Thanksgiving weekend. The studio will also be closed from 12/20/08 until 1/3/08.
Thanks to all of you for your business throughout the year of 2007! It has been very busy, but exciting at the same time to meet so many new clients. I appreciate each and every one of you, and thank you again for your business! I wish you all a blessed and safe Thanksgiving and Christmas season.

Exciting News!

On a personal note, I have some exciting news to share- we are expecting our 3rd child! I am almost through the first trimester, so I hope my energy level starts to return soon. My daughters Maddie and Emma are very excited, and are eager to help with everything from picking out a name to helping decide how to decorate the nursery. We are just hoping the excitement continues after the little one arrives! I am due May 1st, but will more than likely deliver a week sooner, as that was the case with the other two. I plan on taking a short maternity leave, but will make exceptions after the first 3 weeks for maternity and newborn sessions. Maddie has asked me if I am going to have maternity pictures taken of myself, and she said she could take them for me. How cute is that?! I explained that mommy's tummy isn't so pretty after having her and her sister, and her reply was "You can just Photoshop it!" Funny and true!

What's with all the rain?!?

Well, the good news is that I was able to accomodate everyone that was interested in outdoor shoots, but the bad news is that most of the shoots have been rained out! I don't remember past Octobers being this rainy, so it has definitely been a challenge. Thank you all for being flexible in rescheduling. Let's hope it dries up soon!

I have photographed Cole since he was a newborn, and it has been so much fun watching him grow and change. At first, we weren't sure what we were going to get for pictures since he was a bit apprehensive, but it ended up that we got tons of smiles! I just had to post this picture of Emma, my 3 year old. It was taken by Maddie, my 6 year old! I think it's perfect, and captures Emma's playful and rambunctious personality. I hope this is a sign that Maddie may want to follow in my footsteps someday, but we'll see.... No pressure, Maddie!
